1. Who We Are

Teammy is a digital workforce platform built for workers and employers in the United Arab Emirates. We operate at teammy.ae. Our platform connects skilled construction and trades workers with employers managing projects in the UAE.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect only the data needed to operate the platform. This includes:

  • Registration data: full name, email address, password (stored hashed), and the date you registered.
  • Identity and background: date of birth, nationality, and current emirate of residence — used to match you with relevant opportunities and for identity verification purposes.
  • Professional profile: profession, skills, experience, and any optional summary text you add.
  • Profile photo: an optional photo you upload to your profile.
  • Phone number: your UAE mobile number, collected and verified via one-time passcode (OTP). Phone verification is optional at registration but required before you can apply for jobs.
  • Work-related documents: documents you voluntarily upload (for example, trade certificates, ID copies for identity confirmation). You control which documents are shared with employers.
  • Application data: information about jobs you apply for and your interaction with offers and employers on the platform.
  • Referral attribution: if you joined via a referral link, we record this for the purpose of rewarding the person who referred you, in line with our referral program.
  • Technical data: basic request metadata such as IP addresses and browser type, used for security and to operate the platform reliably.

3. Why We Collect It

We collect your data for the following purposes:

  • Operating your account: creating and maintaining your worker profile, enabling you to log in securely, and allowing you to use all platform features.
  • Job matching: presenting you with relevant vacancies and helping employers find workers with the right skills and background.
  • Communication: sending OTP codes, verification emails, and platform notifications relevant to your account and applications.
  • Trust and verification: verifying your phone number and supporting identity checks that make the platform safer for all users.
  • Security and fraud prevention: detecting and preventing misuse of the platform.
  • Platform improvement: understanding how the platform is used in aggregate to improve features and fix issues.

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used only within the Teammy platform to deliver the services described above. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for unrelated advertising. Profile and application data is used to display your information to employers who are actively hiring on the platform.

Your contact details (email, phone number) are not shown to employers by default. Employers must go through an explicit contact-unlock process to access your contact information, and you receive a notification when this happens.

5. When We Share Your Data

We share your data only in the following situations:

  • With employers on the platform: when you apply for a vacancy or when an employer finds your profile, they can see your professional profile, photo, skills, and any documents you have made visible. Your direct contact details (phone, email) are only shared after an explicit unlock action by the employer.
  • With service providers: we use trusted third-party providers to deliver core functions — for example, an SMS provider to send OTP codes and an email provider to send verification emails. These providers access only the minimum data needed to deliver the specific service.
  • For legal compliance: if required by applicable UAE law or a valid legal order, we may disclose data to the relevant authority.
  • For platform safety: our operations and support team can access account data for moderation, fraud prevention, and providing user support. Access is logged and restricted to authorised personnel.

6. Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in Europe (Netherlands) and is protected using industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls.

We store uploaded documents and photos on the platform server with controlled access. URLs for your files are not guessable and are only served to users with the appropriate access rights.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no platform can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@teammy.ae.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the platform's services. If you close your account, we will retain a minimal anonymised record for operational and legal purposes, and remove personally identifiable information within a reasonable period.

Application history and job records may be retained in an archived state for a period after an account is closed to support dispute resolution and platform integrity.

8. Your Rights

As a user of Teammy you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: you can update most of your profile data directly in the platform. For data you cannot edit yourself, contact us.
  • Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and personal data. We will process this request and inform you of any data we are required to retain for legal reasons.
  • Objection: you can object to specific uses of your data. We will review and respond to your objection.
  • Portability: you can request your data in a structured, commonly used format.

This privacy policy reflects Teammy's current practices and is drafted in the spirit of the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and general good-practice standards for digital platforms. It has not yet been formally reviewed or approved by a UAE-qualified legal practitioner. Before formal scale-up or any high-volume public launch, we recommend a review by a qualified legal adviser familiar with UAE data protection requirements.
